The RAMS Read challenge was originated in August 2017 by Pamela Taylor, Librarian and Parece Price, Library Media Assistant.

Freedom Middle School's media center staff was inspired to create a reading challenge that would support the school's goal to improve literacy. To participate, students complete a book summary card after reading their book.
Students are encouraged to select books whose difficulty level is appropriate for them. An emphasis on Lexile measure and use of Destiny Online Catalog support students in choosing books that are interesting and would aid in improving their reading comprehension and fluency.
